Abstract

Media literacy is usually associated with the development of competences in digital technology, and encompasses skills aimed at proper understanding of the media as environment, tools and content. Such a broad complex undoubtedly includes the formation of a wide variety of skills for search and verification of information, for access, critical analysis, evaluation, creation and dissemination of media content, and hence often mixes (and confuses) terms related to both digital education and digital citizenship. The whole complexity of media literacy development, with its specifics related to numerous factors, calls for a cautious approach, placed in the focus of this article.

    DHabil., Associate Professor at the Faculty of Educational Studies and the Arts, teaching Media Studies, Media Literacy and Media Pedagogy.
    His professional career has been mainly in the media, journalism, and communications.
