Abstract

Some theoretical aspects of the empathy as professional personal feature necessary for realizing the helping process, especially for the social-pedagogical work, counseling and consulting, are viewed. There is special stress on results of humanistic psychology and pedagogy and particularly client-centered approach of C. Rogers about the place and role of empathy in counseling and therapeutic process. On the empirical level the results of survey of students in helping professions and practicing project social workers are commented. They are compared with diagnostic personal profi le and attitudes necessary and compulsory for effective counseling.
