INFLUENCE OF PARENTING STYLES ON ATTACHMENT STYLE IN CHILDHOOD IN THE CONTEXT OF CULTURAL PECULIARITIES

The study examines specifi c parenting upbringing patterns and parenting styles as determinants of childhood attachment style formation. Variations in parenting behavior, the degree of responsiveness and control, sensitive or insensitive care across different parenting styles, and their relationship to secure, ambivalent, avoidant, and disorganized attachment are analyzed. Some of the dimensions of culture have been identifi ed as defi ning the patterns of behavior and cognitive perception of parents, upbringing practices and parenting styles in Bulgaria. In conclusion, the reciprocal infl uence of parenting style and infant temperament is established, ie. the parent-child interaction defi nes both the parenting style and the attachment style. The interdependence between cultural characteristics and parenting style, as well as between cultural features and attachment style in childhood is established.
