Abstract

Rules are a key component of the positive pedagogical strategy in form tutor sessions. The quality of school discipline and students’ behavior, as well as the latter’s academic achievements and the establishment of successful learning communities depend on how efficiently rules are established,
learned and observed.

The article examines the essence and characteristics of rules, the types of rules in form tutor sessions, the main approaches to rule introduction and to the provision of support to students for rule observance.

A teaching and learning model for groups of rules in form tutor sessions is suggested: procedural, academic, rules related to morals and values, for behavioral and communicative culture, for responsible social behaviour, for safe behaviour.

The main guidelines for introducing these rules to primary school students
and the approaches to their observance are analyzed.

Also, the main activities within form tutor sessions in cases of rule violation are indicated.
