Abstract

The adaptation during the primary transition from the family to the institutionalized educational environment of the kindergarten in the period of early and preschool childhood is a long and delicate process. The publication presents some theoretical aspects of a model for adaptation with the presence of a parent when entering kindergarten (in a nursery or in the first group), developed by the author. The model takes into account the specifics of the sensitive period and offers a theoretical and applied framework based on the theory of attachment. The presence of a parent as a „safe base“ helps to avoid the emotional shock of encountering an unfamiliar environment, the toxic stress and abandonment trauma that some children
experience. Smooth adaptation is an organizing framework for the mental, emotional, social and cognitive development of the child.
