Abstract

The study presents the current state of the problem of the application of innovative methods in school education in Bulgaria. The results of a survey conducted among Bulgarian teachers from different types of settlements, types of schools and stages of education are analyzed. Their attitude to innovative methods, ideas and views about them and sharing whether they apply them in their work at school are tracked. As a result of the analysis, a profi le of the modern Bulgarian teacher as a pedagogical innovator emerges. It includes their idea of innovative methods – what they know, how often they apply them in their practice, what motivates them for this activity and what are the results. The teachers share which kind of innovative forms, methods and tools they use, how they help them in the teaching process to improve the quality of learning, how much they increase or support the acquisition of learning content and develop the cognitive activity of students and more. The role of education and qualifi cation for knowledge and development of innovative methods, the conditions for introduction of innovations and support for motivating teachers in this process are also monitored.
