The study aims to examine the particularities of the action research approach in terms of its application in the context of cultural diversity. The focus on the specific research frameworks analysed in the study is determined by the need to consider and take into account certain ethical dimensions related to the (inter)cultural competence of teams and the dynamics of power in the researcher-participant relationship when planning and implementing research and projects in multicultural settings. Given the inherent interconnection of applied social and educational research with the solution of specific practical problems, consideration of the above aspects would enhance their relevance and usefulness. Parallel to the advantages of action research approach, its controversial aspects have also been discussed in terms of the dominant paradigm in research.
